What a weekend

Who said that weekends were made to rest???It is 9:30 pm Sunday night and I believe the first time I've relaxed since Friday afternoon.Lots on the agenda for the weekend.Friday night party in Atlanta,Saturday meeting in Chattanooga and a trail workparty in Macon on Sunday.Let me recap my weekend.

I left for Chattanooga around 5'oclock Friday evening. On my way I stopped at a fund raiser/party for an all girl cycling team up in Atlanta so I figured since it was on the way why not stop and see what was going on.I mean I do need to perform my civic duty and support our local bike clubs right??I got there around 7 and saw a few familiar faces.Had a good time for the most part. Was a bummer to not be able to stay a little later but was good to see a few cycling buds.Ended up leaving there around 9:45 or so.

My plan once leaving Atlanta was to just drive as far as Dalton and get a room.Dalton isn't too terribly far from Chattanooga and the rooms were alot cheaper.By the time I got there (11:00 pm)I could hardly hold my eyes open.As I was approaching Dalton I noticed that a few of the hotel parking lots sure did look full.Hopefully there werent any conventions going on in town.As I went in the first hotel I was immediatly told that there are 'no rooms at all at this exit"Dammit man. There was a convention going on.I wasn't panicking but I sure was hoping to get a room asap.I went up to the next exit and was told the same thing at the next hotel I tried. The desk clerk did say there might be a coupla rooms up the hill at the super 8......."goodie" I said.I went in the super 8 to find that I had got the last room.Lucky me.I had to settle for a smoking room but what the hell,it had a bed and man did I need a bed.The room was a welcome relief and I was also suprised when I opened the door that it wasn't a smoking room afterall.

Saturday morning.I leave Dalton on my way to Chattanooga. What a beauty of a morning.I stopped by the local walmart and then waffle house and then was on my way.I was only about 20 miles from Chattanooga and the meeting place was really easy to find. The reason I had to come to Chattanooga was to attend a board of directors meeting for the southern off road bike association(SORBA).I kinda dreaded having to sit in a classroom for 4 hours but was pleasantly suprised at how interesting the subjects were.Wont go into all the deets about the meeting but I really learned alot.It got me really excited about my new job as the OMBA prez.

Trey Commander ,a local rider, was hosting an after meeting group ride at racoon mountain.I really wanted to go but had to head on back.I still had about a 4 hour drive ahead of me.I also had to meet a guy in Kennesaw to sell him a road bike I had. After getting to Kennesaw and having to wait for about 45 minutes, the buyer of my bike showed up.Luckily he loved the bike and the transaction was complete.Woohooo...I'm rich now.......not.

The ride home was uneventful.Did get in a major traffic jam in downtown Atlanta but ended up getting home around 900 saturday night.

Woke up bright and early Sunday morning(today) ready to head to a planned trail work party out at arrowhead park.I was feeling good knowing I had plenty of time to spare before I had to be there......WRONG.....I FORGOT TO CHANGE MY CLOCKS!!!! Dammit man.Instead of being 30 minutes early(like I planned)I was about 40 minutes late.....dammit again.Of course a few folks made fun since I'm on a little bit of a "being late streak"as of late.We did manage to get several trail projects finished and ended the party with a great little cookout.

After lunch I headed back home. For some reason when I got home I really felt like riding my bike.Ive only ridden once all week. Not sure why but I decided to go back to arrowhead and get a lap in which I did.Felt good to get out there for a little ride. The weather was just gorgeous. It's always nice to be able to admire work you've done on a trail after the fact.

On my way back home I stopped by subway, got me a bite to eat and then stopped by the gym to check on things.I am now sitting here dreading the start of a new workweek.

Hopefully the workweek will be unevenful
